Your First Manatee Swim: What to Expect

A wetsuit, a mask, and a little excitement—you’re getting ready to meet one of Florida’s most unforgettable neighbors!
If you’ve never joined a manatee swim before, here’s a quick look at the experience.
Get ready for the water
Your adventure begins with manatee education and a safety briefing. You’ll learn how to observe wildlife respectfully and get fitted with your wetsuit, mask, and snorkel.
You don’t need to own snorkeling equipment. SeaDaddy’s includes the gear you’ll use on your tour.
Slow down and look around
Our boats launch from Pete’s Pier, centrally located on Kings Bay and the closest launch to Three Sisters Springs, Hunter Spring, King Spring, and Jurassic Spring. Your captain chooses the best route based on conditions and wildlife activity.
In the water, the goal is calm, passive observation. Follow your guide, give manatees room, and enjoy watching them behave naturally. No chasing, touching, feeding, or blocking their path.
Fun fact: manatees are mammals, so they surface to breathe air—just like we do!
Small groups, comfortable extras
Our 3-hour shared tours take up to six guests per boat. Prefer a boat reserved for your own group? Private tours are available, too.
Your tour includes wetsuit and snorkel gear, a heated boat, hot showers, lockers, free parking, and free admission to the Crystal River Marine Aquarium.
Bring a swimsuit, towel, and dry clothes. A warm layer feels especially good after a cooler-weather swim.
